Hi: Does anyone know anything about these drillings? It would really be good to hear from people that have them and use them. Also how to break down and clean them. Dan

Bad luck! Your question is about like "I am offered a Wichester rifle." As Simson & Co made made many models and grades of Drillings over many years, noone can give a serious advice. All I can say is: All Simson, suhl made drillings are servicable quality drillings.

Bad luck!

yes thats one way to give an unhelpful reply

but it works both ways - have you ever thought about how much this site misses out on due to lack of direct picture uploading - obviously not!

the re-direction to a photo hosting internet service provider, any of them ,doesn't address the core issue I raised

there is no 'free lunch' - those sites have a commercial imperative and even if some don't actually charge you a fee and you accept the placement of advertisements on your screen in lieu, there are still lots of other downsides for the wary or unsuspecting including permanent, irrevocable loss of control over your material/intellectual property etc

Please, do not talk any politics here. Everyone should know that all fotos which you send to internet will stay there forever. Is it illegal or not but many of those fotos will be loaned for some purposes sooner or later. When talking my fotos I donīt mind but someone could. If so, then it would be better to do not publish any fotos in internet.

my dear Igorrock why mention the ugly 'politics' red-herring - go to my first post which shows the core issue is the lack of capacity for direct uploading of fotos is having an impact on the level of contributions to the site - thats it - simply an adminstrative/efficiency based issue - nothing political at all

as for re-use of material on the web being difficult to control I understand it fully from first hand experience : a member on this site fairly recently posted intellectual property belonging to me on this site without even asking for permission - seeking permission would not have been difficult to, just an email as a courtesy - I didn't complain then ( nor am I now) because the effect in that case was harmless - neither assisting nor impacting achievement of my objective

mind you I hope he realises who I am referring to and doesn't repeat the discourtesy!

aux44, posting fotos is noways a kind of basic skill when surfing in Internet. It's very normal that everybody at once do not able do it correctly but there is so many tutorials in Internet that it's easy to learn that skill. Some discussion forums have their own way to publish fotos but it's very ordinary that such fotos are quite small and number of them for person are restricted.

First, the old Suhl gunmaker was named "Simson", not "Simpson". Mr Simpson is an American arms dealer who imports many old guns, among them drillings, from Europe.
Are you talking about a pre- or post-WW2 Simson drilling? If prewar, it is likely pre-1933, when the jewish Simson family was dispossessed by the Nazis. If made post-WW2, from the 1950s on, the name "Simson" on the gun does not matter at all. The GDR commies used the Names "Merkel", "Simson", "Fortuna", "Hubertus" of the expropriated former Suhl gunmakers just as trademarks for the products of their ETW = Ernst Thaelmann Werke "people owned combine". Guns with these trademark names were essentially all made by the same people. Merely the names on them varied, according to export market preferences.
As you are concerned and nitpicking about your "copyright" and "intellectual property" you will find little help on the internet. The net simply is no place for such people.

aux44 hs left these forums. Showing the correct location is a requirement of the NE terms and conditions (unless otherwise pre-approved) and rather would leave than have the state in Australia displayed. So the account has been closed.

Now we might be able to get back to gunbug's very reasonable question.
