Whitworth P 17 sporting rifle
      #277999 - 15/02/16 11:04 PM

just seeing this P17 (or P 14) sporting rifle advertrised as Whitworth made http://www.lauritz.com/da/auktion/whitworth-jagtriffel-kal-30-06/i4155883/#

and wonder how much of this were ever made. never see it before but have learned that sam cummings interarms made a lot of stuff under the whitworth label http://forums.nitroexpress.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=245999&an=0&page=2#Post245999
because of the than new made barrels this sporters were probably made in the 1970s by using guns with very bad barrels unsuitable for anything than wall hangers because Cummings was very pennywise and let nothing rotten.

who had seen such a thing before?

If I recall correctly the Department of Transport decided to put a major new road through their listed, so technically protected, ex print warehouse and that is what they did compulsory purchased buildings and land and steamrolled the new road through planning etc.

Have seen a few Whitworth sporting rifles advertised and a friend owned a Muaser based on in 243 that shoot well. I cleaned up the trigger pull for him and lightened it a bit as it was still the pure Mauser two stage one fitted. We don't seem to come across them very often seem that they exported most of them.

while the hippy 1970s Whitworth show all signs of the time it was made including the damned white spacer this Cogswell & Harrison is a very nice 375 H&H for 2100 euro and looks like new.

wonder when it was made

Yesterday.....?

No white-line spacers, but does have a classy ventilated pad!
