Had some fun on the weekend. I need to practice more with the .404 Jeffery!

Some good practice.

I like the different types, from the sticks at a target, sticks or off hand at a series of balloons, perhas simulating a charge, and the long range with big bore rifle shooting at a metal plate. What was the size of the metal plate?

The plate was 15" by 15", so not a real challenge. There was a bit of guess work for the drop of the 458 win mag, and a HUGE amount of just plain guess for the 9.3x62. I knew the 100yd setting on the tangent sight shot really high at 100yd, so put it on 100yd and aimed at the top of the plate.
One other target I wanted to try was shooting balloons at 50yds, fire 2 shots, then reload and fire 2 more.

Looks to have been a great hour or two with the big guys stug. It does show that getting off the sticks when necessary for the quick follow up shot/s needs as much practice as the shot itself. Having the rifle down tight in the sticks and holding it clamped cam wedge it as shown. I have the bog-pod so wedging is not a factor although I rest my hand in the yoke rather than the rifle.

Yep the whole thing needs practice. I haven't done much with the .404 because I was waiting for a set of dies to turn up. After a couple of months finally got the dies, then broke my press the day before the shoot!
