Mauser used the 7.6 S as a caliber designation on the barrel and also often marked them US 1906 as well like on this pre-war model B

I'm going by there tomorrow. I'll either write something's down or if they let me take some pictures the wood to me makes it more post war every bit as nice as my mannlicher.its a stretch for me at a 1000$ but have been investing more in rifles and want to creep up into higher guns.so looking 20 yrs ahead.

Yes, take pictures if you can and post them here.
$1K sounds like a deal even if it isn't an Oberndorf sporter.

Original Mauser Oberndorf sporting rifles were offered in 30'06 even before WW1.

A lot of people don't realize that the .30-06 dates back to 1906, pre both world wars. Original pre WWI Mausers were offered in 7x57,8x57and other European and British calibers but also in US .30 1906 for the North American market.
The Mauser factory was destroyed during WWII and the tooling was pillaged and most machines went to France. The Mauser patent could no longer be enforced and many countries started producing their own versions of the M98 patent. FN produced M98 under license pre-war and continued producing their fine version of this action until 1946 when they simplified machining and produced the Deluxe action until they introduced the Supreme 400 series in 1959 until 1975.
Present day Mauser actions are produced in Germany by GolMatic. These actions are CNC machined and of very high quality with corresponding high price($7k).
