Suggesting on a mid-priced binocular in 10x50 ... something less than $500?

I just picked up a pair of 8x40 Vortex. Very nice - I paid $122.99 I think they were at Surplus Herbies and the other local stores in town had them priced at $329.99. They had 10's as well.
So far, I am happy with my 3 Vortex products, scope (6-18X50 w/stadia wires), laser range finder and now the binocs. It would not hurt to "check them out". I preferred the Vortex to the Pentax and Nikon they also had.
