Very nice!
Love those hammerless Henrys. Do you have any more photos to share?

I assume they were rebarreled in the cordite era (?) but one wonders if there was anything in particular that was wrong with the original barrels which would have made them unsuitable for light cordite loads of the day.

Just a hunch: They may have been built at the end of the BP era with BP chamberings and proofing out of Damascus; and shortly after have had fluid steel, nitro proof barrels retro-fitted to keep them in service as BP became obsolete?

There is something a bit special about the AH hammerless underlever. Mine retains its original Damascus barrels and 500 No2 Exp chambering, built in 1891; it has a patent use number fewer than 100 higher than your .500, and was built in 1891.

Has anyone yet written a definitive book on the maker and his wares?

Cadet - If you do not have it, Wal Winfer's Vol. 1 of his "British Single Shot Rifles" Alexander Henry, is essential, but now may be very difficult to source. (There is one in the US on Abebooks NOW)
There are also updates is some of the later volumes

Jonathon Kirton's "The British Falling Block Breechloading Rifle" has a section on him
(also on Abebooks now)

They are not cheap but IMHO essential for serious study

Note on re reading this thread, Double rifles are not included - sorry
