Definitely looks like FUN!
Is that a sea bass on the end?

Daryl_S

We call them Redfish but I think some places they are called sea bass.

I couldn't have wished for a better day on the water for my daughter.

Ripper sea trout there for your daughter Caz, dwarfs all the others by a huge margin!
Bet you're a proud dad, has she stopped grinning yet?!

I like the word "Ripper" as a descriptive - Thanks Marrakai!

And thanks to all my Australian and other friends around the world for the compliments.

I was fishing right next to her. Had I caught that fish or any of the flounder it would have meant nothing to me. But she cast her own line, set the hook, and brought in all the flounder and that monster trout it all by herself.

If you'll notice, that big fish could easily have eaten some of the "keepers" in one swallow.

While I was secretly hoping that she would complete a Texas slam (Trout, Redfish, Flounder) my guide and good friend Doug Rives pointed out that you can "slam" anytime, but a trout that reaches almost 32" is the fish of a lifetime.

Meanwhile my wife and my oldest daughter are off on a college road trip tour, and I somewhat agonized over the money I was spending already plus the money I would spend to go fishing.

Obviously I made the right decision.

Take your kids fishing my friends. - Success as a dad is not measured in the length of the fish but in the size of the smile.

Between the deer and the hogs and the African animals and now this trout,

I fear that Em will never be able to marry a sportsman when she grows up because the poor bastard will always feel inadequate...

I was going to ask if the sea trout was going to be mounted. I have no idea about fish other than would eat it. I have no idea how you prepare a fish for a 'taxidermist' either???

I made Trout Amandine (almondine) with some rainbows we caught a few weeks ago. It was easy and very tasty.
I had not tried to filet a trout before but it is pretty easy too and you lose much of the fishy flavor over frying with the head and skin on.

Great work taking your daughter out on a trip like this!
