WVFred,

No idea about value in the sense of price that you might pay for the rifle but Mahillon is an old and highly respected name from Belgium and on par with Pirotte, Lebeau Courally, Francotte, Dumoulin etc. The company closed down many years ago but the name has been bought by a very prestigious dealer in Bruxelles. I don't know whether they could advise you on your rifle but they have a website http://www.lamaisonduchasseur.com/ and you might try contacting them on e-mail.

Best wishes and please post pictures of your rifle if possible.

Good hunting!

WVFred:

Not sure if this would help, but www.gunsamerica.com has a pretty large list of guns that people are selling. If you haven't check that out, go there a do a search for the type of gun you are looking for and something MAY be there. If found, it might help give you a ballpark figure of the market asking price.

Just my two cents.

WVFred,

I just remembered that some months ago, Cabelas had a very unusual Mahillon double rifle in 500 Jeffery on their website for sale at one of their "gun libraries." It isn't there any longer and was probably sold but I wonder if they would be able to give you any information about pricing.

I have checked and learned that La Maison du Chasseur do have Mahillon records and they should be able to help you if you contact them.

Best wishes and do let us know what information you collect. Good hunting!

WVFred,

That is one really beautiful rifle. What kind of front sights does it have? Would you please post pictures of the front as well when you find time?

Thanks and good hunting with it!

Coincidentally, I just picked up a 300 H&H Mahillon today.

Sadly, stock is only 13 1/2, but trigger guard has nice inlaid (silver?) crown, horn forend cap, makers name engraved on barrel. Wood is walnut - unassuming at first, but bright & deep in daylight G&H mount

Mine is almost identical to photo of this 375

That sounds almost identical to mine...it too has had a sidemount scope and you really have to look close to see.
