I've been waiting for this one for a while. I stopped by my local shop to remind them that I put my name at the top of the list a few months ago. I'm a little disappointed it's not a simple stretch of the G42 though, I've been carrying on of those for a while now.

They are also coming out with a longer barreled "hunter" version chambered in 10mm..seriously interested in that one..

I'm surprised that Glock has not launched a series of pistols in 38 super comp for the IPSC and 3-gun crowd..... Apparently the market for tiny pistols is greater than I could imagine Personally I'm not interested in anything smaller than G 19.

Concealed carry here in the U.S. is growing by leaps and bounds..with a large segment of the growth coming from women..which is why, IMHO, there is such a large crop of new "smaller" handguns..

Yep, concealed carry is what the G43 is for. It's amazing how mush easier to carry the G42 is than a G26/27, the weight has a lot to do with it but the thickness is a big factor as well.

When I stopped by the local gun shop today on my drive, they told me the dimensions will be very similar to the G42. Will be very concealable..

The dimensions are a fair bit bigger than the 42.
I've looked at the numbers and I've handled the 42, as I've been looking at a reliable training pistol for my 9yo daughter. With her small hands every millimeter makes a big difference. I'll likely end up with a 42 soon, and might test drive a 43, but from what I see it 'could be smaller'

In what regard? think the LC9 will be smaller..

Also I believe Ruger come out with another version called the LC9s??

http://www.ruger.com/products/lc9s/specSheets/3235.html

Which is said to have a much better trigger pull--

Have no issue with some Rugers..when its hot out and I don't care to wear a ton of clothes usually can toss a .380 in the pocket without being noticed..but think as to reliability the Glock is legendary.. however I did hear Glock had some feed issues with their .380..not sure where that is at ..

Yes, I was thinking of the size. I believe the LC9s is the "striker fired" . It seems to have a better trigger pull than the original hammer fired gun. Have not had chance to shoot either . But, I have carried the Ruger .380 for couple of years now. The trigger takes some practice , but can't beat it for "pocket carry".

I have my G43 in hand. It's very nice, typical Glock. Comparing to the G42 it's slightly bigger, not real noticeable except that it doesn't fit G42 holsters. It's considerably more concealed carry friendly than the G26/27 pistols. I'm hoping to put a few rounds through it tomorrow.

I was able to get out for a quick range session yesterday. The guns shot like a Glock (flawlessly), it's more recoil than the 42, obviously, and a bit sharper than the 26 due to the smaller grip. Not bad, just different. I ran a box of standard loads through followed by a few magazines of 124gr +P+ loads. Overall, it's a keeper.

The frame and magazines have been redesigned.
Current production is good - at least here on my hill.

Look at the rifling profile of your 42 please - is it a modified Henry pattern and not simply a polygon?
How about your 43?

I'm running a Stealthgear AIWB that I had for the G42 (I just had to tweak the fit of the kydex shell a little with a heat gun). I also have their Onyx IWB for the G26/27, they are the best holsters I've found so far.

I can't say enough good things about Stealthgear. Today I installed a set of Heine "Straight Eight" night sights on it. Now all I need is a couple of extra magazines and I'm set.

See that..?
Not common Glock polygon rifling.
Look closely.

Interesting, I had never looked at close at either the 42 or 43 rifling. The 43 is just like the 42.

As an aside, the more I carry the G43 the more I like it. All weekend I carried it in my Stealthgear AIWB and it's been very comfortable and conceals very easily. The same can be said of the 42 but the difference between a 90gr Gold Dot at 1200fps and a 124gr Gold Dot at 1300fps is significant.

I agree - for us here the little 42 is a training tool for my 9yr old daughter. The .380 has some snap, not too bad though for her 65lbs.

We also have a 39, the profile of the 39 and the 42 is almost identical, but with a tremendous difference in energy.

So your 42 and 43 also have cut rifling..?
There was a Glock rep at the regional shooting facility today, he noted that the rifling profile of the 42 has been evolving since the introduction.

My G42 has the same style of rifling. I think the 380 +P ammo in the 42 has the same recoil as the 9mm in the 43.

For my daughter I'm runing bulk fmj.
Works great, and we might have gotten her an ammunition sponsor. Looks like she's gotten sponsorship for a belt rig and kydex gear.
Good start. Handy and reliable training pistol.

I set up a line of h2o milk jugs with the intent to retain an intact fired bullet. The little .380 penetrates like mad, at eight jugs I haven't caught a fmj yet. Tomorrow I'll set up with a soaked stack of cardboard as a backstop and more jugs.

I have a known good (and hotter than bulk fmj) load recipe with the 90gr xtp and AA No.2 that also works well in the 42
For now it's bulk ammo though.

That's impressive for a .380..would not have thought it would do that..Let us know how the other test goes..curious how much it will blow through..

thx

Stopped by our local gun story to have a look --they had 3 in stock..said they have been going through a few every week..

I am still packing the S&W Shield or Kimber Solo most of the time. If I get more serious I carry a Springfield XDs in 45..nice little pistol as well but not as easy to conceal. Really like how the Shield feels and shoots.

I have been carry a Ruger in .380 , however I have felt for some time I needed a little more than the .380 and the little Ruger is not the easiest gun to hit with. I really like the 43 . The guy at the store told me they sell everyone of them they can get (usually the day they get them).
If I couldn't get the 43 , I was looking at the "Shield" . Nice gun as well.

Ripp,

Have you gotten your holster yet? I got my new one for the 43. It works good but the belts clips are different from the ones on the holster for my G27. They are not good in that they seem to catch on everything whereas the older ones are "lower profile". I need to call Stealthgear and get it sorted out.

FYI-in the July issue of GUNS AND AMMO..very interesting article coparing the new Glock to most common other brands --awesome test...

Did try the new holster this weekend hiking, around town and driving..like it a lot..ordering another one for another handgun I carry often..works very well for concealment especially leaving your shirt untucked...

I'll probably get one. I carry the Glock 19 and it is a great pistol, but there are times I want something a little more on the thinner side. I tried very hard to warm up to the Glock 26, but never could. However the S&W M&P Shield is also a good little pistol. Oh choices and more choices.
