Well for those who are interested. On March 15th, 2015 the James D. Julia auction house auctioned off most of Elmer Keith's firearms. Among the many spectacular firearms was a double rifle made by W.J. Jeffery in 450/400 3". Boxlock with 24 inch barrels. Made in 1909. Original owner was Jim Corbett. Later owned by Elmer Keith. It sold for $264,500.00 (USD). For those who want to know more. Here is a link.

Wow that's £179398.00 must be a lottery winner with that sort of loose change!! But pride of ownership wow... Today's estrata game is tomorrow's bargain.

It's definitely not small change. The number is unofficial at this point, but the (unofficial) total for the two-day auction (March 15-16,2015) is over $16,000,000 (USD). That's over ten million British pounds and fifteen million Euro.

Wow! WELL above my pay grade! I am just glad I had the chance to handle it in Las Vegas

It made me revisit his books after nearly 50 years, just bought several
Paperbacks for pennies and am half way through "Man eaters of Kumaon", it has really got my interest back

I've always lusted after the Boswell Double in 500 Nitro that Keith took on safari in 1969. There are several photos of him and it in his autobiography "Hell I was There!". I had the opportunity to see it several times when it was on display at the Cabelas in Boise, Idaho. It sold for $59,800.00 (USD) at the auction. 40,513 British pounds. Oh well. At least I can look at the pictures and remember being just inches away from it. Of course a couple of those inches were high strength glass, but still just inches.
