W.W. Greener conversion
      #259856 - 02/02/15 06:44 PM

HI All,

This is the product of a seed that has been in my head since I was about 8 or 9. The work was done by Caleb Whitcombe in the UK. The barrel has been trimmed to 22" and a choke reamed and tapped. I am now awaiting a mould from CBE, but UK Royal Mail seem to of lost it ahhhhhh! I will try and get it working with round ball first and get back with a range report. I have sorted out the photo posting, so no excuses!

Regards - Karamoja

I am struggling to get the picture to show up? I will have a tinker later!

Thanks for that Huvius.
I have a screw in rifled choke on its way so hopefully It will work quite well after some playing around. I will start off with a Jeff Tanner round ball mould, and then progress to a CBE 680grain paradox mould. I was thinking of using Unique as a good place to start, if anyone has any advice it will be greatly received.

Regards - Karamoja

Why the long lever and such a large lever barrel and not a pistol grip lever instead?

Hello DoubleD,

The longer lever length and the size of the lever finial where my choices, because I wanted them that size and shape. The stock is the original stock, I just capped the end and picked up the checkering. So it cost nothing.

I am really looking forward to getting it up and running well!! Just the job for charging muntjac and rabbits.

Regards - Karamoja

If that is the original stock I now say wow, Nice work.

As far as the lever, you will come to hate it. The long levers were made to aid in extraction and did work somewhat. But on the other hand they awkward to operate. My long levers, for that reason are closet queens.

Hi,

Yes it's the original stock, original case colour hardening and original barrel. I snapped it up, when I saw it with this project in mind.
I had a little .22 Bsa as a boy, my dad bought me, and I have dreamt of of one in 500ne ever since. I plan on another large frame in 375 21/2ne, and a small frame in 7-30 waters at some point. I have just found another early Gp at a local gun shop for £99. If I can get for a bit less I might grab it. I would like to do it on a zar action though if possible.

Regards - Karamoja

Cheers

Hi Bridgee,

Yes, I have had a tinker with the Jeff Tanner round balls, looks promising, Just getting the sights zeroed in. And I have pressure tested some loads at the kynoch facility. The fallow cull is nearly over, so some more time to devote to it then. I am also having a sizing die for the cbe paradox mould made which is where the real fun will be, with brass cases and circle fly 11g wads.
I will post some details as soon as I can.
Many thanks for asking and your interest - Karamoja
