I wonder if it has the standard wavy-plastic finish of all the current Weatherby MK5's?

For the price they are showing for this, one would hope not, BUT???
While I really like some of their calibers, 257 being my favorite as well of the Weatherby series, I think much of their marketing claims are very outdated. Fastest, hardest hitting, most accurate ??? those are no longer the case and have not been for a very long time. They need to get a new marketing idea going..IMHO
I have owned several through the years. Currently own one, a synthetic in 240. Great little gun for what it is. Have also owned several through the years in .257. Got rid of most of them and built my own via gunsmith. Much more accurate than I had with the factory Weatherby's..
Not to bash proud owners of them, just personally have never been that much of a fan of the rifles, nor their mechanics..

I was thinking the .224 was the best WTBY round, but of course, it has that useless belt.

I just bought a couple of Weatherby"s, one in 223 and it shot so well (my hand loads .386" 3 shot group at 100 yds.) that I bought another in 6.5 creedmoor. They were the Vangaurd series 2 models. Al

The Mark V 70th Anniversary rifle is only available in .257 Weatherby Magnum, company founder Roy Weatherby’s favorite caliber. The rifle features an exhibition-grade California claro walnut stock with a high-gloss finish and a Pachmayr waffle-style recoil pad. The stock incorporates skipline checkering as well as double forend tip and grip cap spacers designed to replicate those of custom 1960′s-era Weatherby rifles.
All of the rifle’s metalwork sports a high-gloss finish, and the custom-designed steel bottom floorplate is embellished with Weatherby’s 70th Anniversary logo etched in gold. The barrel length of the rifle is 24 inches and has a #1 contour.
Sounds bootiful ...
