Here are a couple of pictures of my latest HVA M46 manufactured in 1930. This one has almost perfect bluing except on the floor plate where it looks have been rubbed bright from being carried a lot. The bore is mirror bright and has very sharp rifling. One small dent in the stock just in front of the bolt handle.

Good shooting rifles. Well done, Matt. Up here, tradeexcanada.com has sold hundreds of these in the local market - in Canada.

Daryl, Simpsons here in the U.S. has done the same thing. Sold hundreds of these rifles. This is my second one. I was so impressed with the first one, I looked for quite a while to find an even nicer example. Can't wait to take it to the range for its first shots from my shoulder. Thanks to you and 9.3x57 for all the information you have shared with us about these fine (and affordable) rifles.

You are most welcome. The odd Husky's are drilled and tapped for Weaver Bases and have 'turned' bolts - mine was. Some have Aimpoint sights installed - I guess those had some popularity in Sweden/Norway/Denmark?

AIMPOINT is initially swedish trademark and they still, at least partly, make sights there.

Iowa303 that is one nice looking rifle.
If I had one in 9.3X57 an Aimpoint is what I would be puting on it.

Rule, I've seen a couple with Aimpoints on them but I like the unaltered rifles. No extra, non-factory holes. The iron sights on these rifles line up perfectly for me and seem to be perfectly regulated for me.

Matt - the iron sights worked worked well for me once I opened up the rear sight to a wide V. With the U notch, there was too much fuzziness. Even though my .69's sights are not too close to the eye for me, their open V is easier to shoot than the any of the others with narrow V or "U notches. Some of the other guy on the muzzleloading forum U frequent tried them and really like the open V, Express-type rear sight.
With that modification, mine planted 2" high at 50 yards, zero'd at about 150 with the bullet striking just under the bead at 200. Killing the moose at 200yards was easy, with those sights. That was with a 270 Speer at 2,300fps. I had 2 loads that gave that, H4895 and BLC2. The case exansion above the solid web was less than .0005 (5-10,000'ths - not thousandths) with both, from a FL sized case. In other words, VERY low pressure in my rifle.

Daryl, On my first M46 I had the same problem with the rear sight and opened it up to a nice 90° "V". The bead now just nestles into the V so the top of the bead is even with the top of the rear sight. Bullet impact with either the Speer 270 grain or the Privi 285 grain bullet is right on top of the bead at 150 yards and about 1 1/4" low at 200 yards. The 285 grain Privi did a fine job on a 150 pound whitetail doe at 80 yards last month. The bullet went in just behind the shoulder, through both both lungs and out leaving a 2" diameter hole.

Beautiful rifles. I have a bargain basement 9.3x57 I bought from Sarco for a few years back now for $250US! When the box arrived at the dealers and I pulled the gun out I gasped. Even now they are an incredible bargain. I purchased one in 6.5x55 from Simpsons some time later with a side mount and steel tuned weaver scope for $450US. It looks unfired. In fact it was in such beautiful condition that it has become a cabinet queen. I hate to put a ding in it. Not so the 9.3. What wonderfully handy rifles. Once you've carried one, you look at your other scoped rifles and begin to question your reasoning!

One thing about loading them- with no or little data, you can use maximum loads for the .358 Winchester with same-weight bullets. I am not talking about the .35 WINCH. or the .35 WHELEN - but the .358 Winchester on the .308 case. Beware.
You will find these loads are less than max. in ANY of the 9.3x57's. Velocities will be similar (usually less).
