Last minute Christmas safari rifles
      #258166 - 23/12/14 01:35 AM

A couple of nice bolt guns that need a new home.

A high grade gun I took pity on. I started out with just the parts, or I should say most of the parts minus two key components, the action and bottom metal were both missing and the former owner long deceased. I purchased the bolt, original barrel with an excellent bore and stock from a client and board member here on AR. His uncle had owned many British rifles in the past and these parts were too interesting to just let them sit. Besides, this is the best handling big bore bolt rifle I have ever handled, Jeffery really got the stock right on this one. An Oberndorf action of the proper vintage was sourced and Mr. Wiebe provided the basic bottom metal to which I added an Oberndorf trigger guard. This rifle was a high grade gun originally and Charles Lee replicated the early engraving pattern on the new metal components. The rifle only lacks the regulation of the sights at this point which of course is included in the sale price. It is a wonderful rifle that is mechanically excellent very pretty too. 7,500$ or best offer.

This is one of the rifles I used for my application to the ACGG(I was accepted)as a metalsmith. Inspired by H&H rifles from the 1920's and built for a client who never took possession of it(he is a PH and dropped off the planet). Never carried or hunted in the field, picture in Tom Turpin's "Modern Custom Guns". Extended top tang, 1/4 rib, beautiful border engraving by Charles Lee with room for more if so desired. This rifle was built on a 1953 FN commercial action utilizing a Blackburn bottom metal and trigger guard stocked in a very nice piece of Australian thin shelled walnut. Asking 14,500$, partial trades considered with British rifles and quality hunts given priority.
