Interesting, i quite like the old pistol carbine's. The ones made for hunting are intriguing and i do believe the Kaiser had one?

this is a very rare C 96 hunting carbine now at 2788 euro and I wonder what it will end. very clever by the seller to give this in an auction that ends four days before christmas when many will fork the money out.

I dont know if the Kaiser had a C 96 hunting carbine too. one of the Mauser brother's make a private introduction for him once for getting an order so its possible they make a presentation broomhandle.
what we know for sure is he had a Parabellum hunting carbine

no, not this gun

It would be a restricted rifle (requiring registration) in Canada due to the semi-auto action with less than 18 1/2" bl.
It could only be legally shot at a range that allows restricted rifles.
Be nice for bunny hunting, wouldn't it.

The Mauser carbine is a very interesting weapon for sure but the Luger is just sublime IMO.

Nice.

Putting even a removable buttstock on a legal centrefire s/a handgun, converts it into an deadly illegal centrefire rifle per our inane local authorities ... believe it or not ...

Nice old handgun or carbine. Probably quite revolutionary for the time.

One thing few people comment on, was WDM Bell carried a C96 s/a handgun with him into Karamoko territory. I have not refound the reference in his books to it though.

There was one of those Mauser Carbines in a Brisbane Gunshop before 1996 ,I think it was Chinese ,I think the price was something like $875.00 ,was interesting but couldn't think of a use for it

That Bergmann piece is the business - a stunner. It looks like an outstretched arm holding a pistol.

Old post but yes Bell did speak about his broomhandle Mauser pistol somewhere in "Bell of Africa". It was called 'bom, bom' by the natives and he mentions pulling it out and firing off a magazine clip into the dust in a village where he was resting to intimidate some of the natives who were getting a bit threatening.
