Merkel .470NE side lock

Before driving a five hour round trip, anyone have any helpful suggestions why I should think again before viewing this double?

How old, pre- or post-WW2? If pre-, which Merkel, Gebrüder M, Bernhard M., Oskar M., E.A.M.?

Make the hours count, have an hour at the shooting range scheduled as part of the day's agenda.
You'll know if it fits/functions/shoots to regulation.

No, but it was my second call if the first went sour.

I have commissioned a Heym 500/416NE 88B Safari. My preference had been for the side lock but the factory could not complete the side lock build within my time allowance, so I settled on the box lock.

Delivery due 20 March... Day before my 73 birthday 😀
