Patrick Big Game Gun/Rifle ?
      #256979 - 19/11/14 04:31 PM

Has any one heard of a Gun called a Patrick (spelling?) I have a lead on a shotgun type rifle, a double I believe in 12ga 4in chamber & 10ga bore, used for Big Game hunting so the lead says, but strangely has a 30in barrel ?

I'm presuming a brass case gun from the 10ga bore ?

May the name be „Petrik“? A French, St.Etienne, gunmaker. Petrik was the real inventor of the “sliding cover” breech lockup and the ribless barrels later copied by Remington, Valmet and Krieghoff. But they may have made other action types too.

Well turned out to be 3in chambers, massive big heavy thing with a push forward under lever, hammerless, 10 Bore + size, cocking indicators, cut file rib, no sights & no rifling !

So I'm thinking a very heavy Wild Fowl gun or Ball Gun, but no sights ?

I did not bring it home, he had a 8 bore ML shotgun to but I ran out of money for that one.

A 12 bore paper case chamber size for 12 bore brass cases might well have .750" bores for sure - that would make it an 11 bore - heavy and perhaps for ball or shot?

I do not know what sized ball a 12 bore brass case that is fireformed, will hold.

M 16 bore brass easily held slightly undersized 13 bore balls at .705". Might have even held .710"s, true 13 bore size but didn't try it as the groove diameter was .705". The chambers were for 16 bore paper.(plastic fit as well)
