Pre-War Mauser 8x64
      #256523 - 10/11/14 12:06 PM

I'm not sure if this is exactly the right place to post this, if not feel free to comment and I will take the proper course of action.

That being said, I have cash in hand and am looking to purchase an original pre-war commercial mauser chambered in 8x64. Condition is negotiable. If no one has one for sale, or knows anyone who does have one for sale, I would still greatly appreciate any pictures of pre-war 8x64 commercial mausers, I have scoured the forums looking for pictures of an 8x64 but have never been find any, though I swear I have seen some at some point in time.

Thank you for any information you may have, and I look forward to becoming active on this forum.

I just looked through Jon Speedīs book`s Mauser factory production cart between years 1897-1944. In cart there is many 8x60`s and even some 8x75`s too but not any 8x64`s so maybe Brenneke was the only maker who used this caliber in those years.

This photo may not satisfy your desire for an original pre-War 8X64S Mauser, but it will give you an idea of what one should look like.

I rescued the barreled action of this rifle from a totally inappropriate stock and had it restocked in a pattern which closely resembles a Type A commercial sporter stock. The barrel is not original Mauser, but was added at some point after the War, but it closely resembles the factory barrel. It is in the hands of my German gunmaker awaiting completion of the paperwork required to import it.

Yes, Mauser made a few 8x64S rifles, very few indeed. Here are some hasty photos of the only one I have ever seen some time ago. Sorry, I have no better photos. The rifle is dated 1944 and is obviously a special order one. Built on a standard length Double Square Bridge action with special order side safety, bolt guide lug behind bolt handle and cartridge/rim guide ribs in magazine. B-type sights, A-type stock and M-type flat bolt handle.
