Huvius; I am not absolutely certain but I don't think any actions were made specifically for shotgun usage, that "shield" is most likely "soldered" on. This was only done on the Remo all the others were screwed on with two screws. That thingy under the ejector is part of the shell retaining / release system again this method is only on the Remo. The "mushroom" on the front of the bolt is pinned vs held by the extractor on the others.

The stock on the one in your pic. is not original but a modified military - well done though. The Remo had a nice rifle type stock side panels, cheek piece and all. All the rest had cut down military stocks no embellishments.

A write-up on these is in "Bolt Action Rifles by F. de Haas" another on the Gunboards site. In Franks book he alludes to the fact the 98 Remos (not to be confused with the Remo-popular which is based on the Mauser 71) are rather scarce likely due to cost. The Remo all in all is more refined and complex when compared to say a Geha etc.

I have pics. of mine and can Email to you / anyone willing to post. FWIW --- John

Tentman, I saw that one too, I think it might be a 9x57.

The Eduard Kettner rifle is obviously built pre-WW1 on a Mauser, Oberndorf commercial action.
The Mauser S Stutzen/carbine was completed by Walter Röll post-1945, as shown by the Serial number.

So have many Mauser sporters from late WW2 production, see Jon Speed: Mauser - OOSR, page 293. But this rifle was built by the former Mauser master gunsmith Walter Roell post-WW2, evidenced by the Serial number and the lack of eagle/N + staghorn proofmarks on the Receiver ring. Roell was given the left-over Mauser commercial parts by the French to make "Mauser" sporters for allied officers.

@ kunduae
I think you are not right.
take a look at page 457 of the Jon Speed Mauser book.
The S- Stutzen is made at the end at 1944 and is not an "occupation" Mauser by Walter Röll.

Abel

Welcome aboard,

But it is a safe bet , that The Type S is a Röll Mauser. As Kuduae stated above it lacks the staghorn proof mark on the receiver.

The number -if you follow J.Speeds book - also will identify it as an "occupation" Mauser.

An added sign ( at least to my personal experience) is the reddish extractor you will find on nearly all Röll Mauser´s.

The scope on the 505 kind of ruins it for me.
That said, I don't know how useful the prismatic scope on the 425 would be. Super nice rifle otherwise though and I have a fondness of the 425WR.

Wonderful rifle, but to me It doesn't look like that .318 Westley takedown is assembled correctly in the photos. The tang needs to go down farther, and be underneath the portion that is attached to the rear guard screw.

That would put it down where it needs to be, and also lower the trigger down farther into the guard.

You are correct.
They did not hook the rear of the action under the keeper in the stock.

I hate it when they sand the stock down soo much that they round the edges.... This one 's bolt stop sticks out by nearly 2 mm!and the srew nearly sticks out.
