Hey Folks

Its a pleasure to load up a new acquisition of mine. This is a Rodda Modele de Luxe Double Rifle chambered in 400/360 Nitro Express. Its was made for The Raja of Jagmanpur, Lokendra Shah.

Hope you enjoy the photos

Agree, very nice rifle!
It is nice to see these jungle themed rifles in the sea of scroll engraved guns. They really stand out.
Do you know which 400/360 it is chambered in? It is all in the rim thickness. Westley Richards used the thicker rim and Purdey & Fraser used the thin rim.
A while back, a friend had a Westley built gun and tried new W.R. retailed ammunition in it but had seemingly high pressure signs. Turns out that the W.R. shells labeled as 400/360 WR actually had the thin rim which failed to headspace properly in his rifle.

He who lives in the past is doomed to enjoy it.

Huvius,

I think its the Purdey as its proofed for the 300 grain load, but am not 100 percent sure. I used 9.3x74r brass as the Bertram 400/360 would not fit. I trim and then run them through a set of 400/360 Purdey dies from CH4D and fire form them anyways to match the chamber.

All the best

Lovely rifle...I agree with the others that the jungle-theme engraving makes it special...this and provinence makes it a wonderful piece of indian hunting history..

Rodda really could make nice doubles..!

Great rifle.

How does it shoot with and without the scope?

Cheers,

Chris

Hey Guys,

Will do a range report soon. Sadly I don't have the scope, it must have been lost long time ago in the jungles!!!!. I will of course get some rings made up to fit the mounts and a period scope will make a nice addition.
