Need help please with my CZ 550

OK experts, I need your help.

I have a CZ550 that I store (like my other bolt rifles) with the bolt out.

So now trying to put the bolt back in I can't seem to do it. The round pin at the back end of the bolt is pointed downward and is touching the top of the stock. I can snap the bolt in place, but I just can't slide it forward without potentially deeply gouging the stock which is obviously incorrect.

I also can't seem to rotate the back end of the bolt or release it in any way.

Any ideas? I'm obviously doing something wrong. I just don't know what.

Somebody has turned the bolt shroud 90deg anti-clockwise, uncocking it. That's easy to do.

It's a bit harder to turn it back in its cocked position, but not really difficult.

When you look at what is the bottom of the shroud, you see the rectangular protrusion of the cocking piece. Its nose is engaged at the bottom of a V notch in the rear of the bolt body. This piece needs to rotate clockwise with the shroud, climbing the ramp on the notch, and it will click in its cocked position, which is a tiny notch on the back of the bolt body.

If your bolt is not too rough, simply holding the shroud tight and turning forcefully clockwise should do the trick. Wrapping it in a rag may help.

If it's too hard, one way is to use the corner of a wooden table (one on which you don't mine a scratch or dent, which is a possibility...) You hold the bolt vertically, firing pin end down, and catch the cocking piece on the wood. You can then press the bolt down, at the same time rotating the shroud.

If you use a table or such, instead of turning the shroud just press the "hold" button that is on the left side of the shroud. This will hold the firing pin retracted and free the shroud. That's the disassembly position for the firing pin assembly.

Stick a piece of wood in a vice, hook the cocking piece on and twist.

Always annoying when I do this on any bolt.

Sometimes a little difficult to re-cock and then it magically happens.

Using a vice with wood to protect the bolt is the easiest way as 9.3 suggests.
