The Australian Blue Swimmer Crab

What a great crustacean to fish, or is it hunt?! And even better to eat freshly caught and cooked on a fire at the beach.

Can be caught digging in the mud flats in shallow water during low tide during the day. With a purchased metal crabbing "net" or scoop. or actually better a pitch fork with chicken wire wound on it. The fork prongs allowing easier digging. Looking for darker grey sediment where a crab has buried itself in the mud.

Or at night using a light or a spotlight, catching the blue swimmer crabs floating or swimming in the low tide night waters.

The minimum legal length is 11cms measured across the carapace from the base of the largest spines.
