A man's .22 RF - Dorleac & Dorleac Mauser MS350B

Joel set himself a work task and challenge that was personally important to him. To build a .22 long rifle in the style of the usual Dorleac & Dorleac "high calibre" production rifles.

Three years of work in time "lost" in the evenings and weekends using an action from an original Mauser MS350B to create this fine "man sized rifle".

Joel kept the housing and the latch from the original action and rifle with some significant alterations.

That is probably the most elegantly beautiful bolt action .22 rifle I have seen. Not the most adorned but this is the epitome of less is more. Take a bow Monsieur Dorleac.

Damn. I was sure I had already seen it on here, but couldn't find it on several searches .... probably used Dorleac as the poster's name for the search. I even asked Joel for permission and if the photos had been on NE before, before putting them up.

Don't know about anyone else, but I certainly don't mind having this gorgeous gun on here twice. Or maybe you can use your super secret moderator powers to merge them

It's hard to stop looking at it. The less is more statement is correct with this gun. It has just the right amount of things done to it and I can't decide whether it will look better still when it is blued or how it is now. Amazing to think it is a 22 LR. Stunning.

I handled this rifle when I was in Perpignan, France in November. It is stunning. Understandably, Joel said it was not for sale.....no matter what price was offered. Some things are literally priceless......this is one of them. Cheers. Chip.

There is a reason why I picked up at Mauser 420B not too long ago...

There is something wrong with that rifle....I just can't put my fingers on it. Yes, that truly is it! I can't put my fingers on it because I don't own it and THAT is the ONLY thing wrong with it!!
Absolutely one of the finest rifles I have observed. (wait...didn't I say that about Joel's last rifle posted?!)
Sublime.

Joel's work defines excellence in gun making. I can only second the others calling his .22LR project stunning, beautiful, elegant, gorgeous, etc..
