Nyala, Bush Buck and a dinged up double rifle.
      #249099 - 16/06/14 11:34 AM

Landed this morning after an 11 day shooting holiday in Natal RSA. Mostly I was looking for a few good bushbucks but I thought I'd try for a great kudu or nyala if Africa offered them up. I did manage to take a pretty good fall and banged up my 9.3x74r double rifle.

Looks like a good time out.
Those dings on the rifle definitely make it yours!

I am certifiable over bushbuck hunting. Hunted them exclusively for 11 days. My PH Ryan Pinaar was equally deranged, he might love the little devils even more then I do. We hunted them almost like a sheep. Got high and glassed the river valley and far slopes. Shots ranged from 8 yards to 320 yards. My most exciting two bushbucks I glassed and saw before my PH, not a normal occurrence for me. Out of the 25 or so rams we saw, he probably spotted 20 first.

Of course the photo with my brother, father and cousin shows two bushbucks, the monster with the flared antlers is of course my brothers first bushbuck. Could not have happen to a nicer guy. He actually turned down the bushbuck until the PH begged him to try for it. My brother wanted a reed buck .....

All told the four of us took;
-2 kudu (54 and 56 inches respectably)
-3 nyala
-1 reedbuck
-1implala
-2 warthogs
- 1duiker
-12 bushbucks

We hunted with Crudader safari in the umkamaas valley. All free range and fair chase. Nothing shot from the trucks or after last light, overall the best RSA trip we ever had. We tried to get the bush pigs to bait during daylight, just could not get them to come in until midnight or so.
