...if you are referring to side-by-sides, i believe weatherbys discontinued their program...they were sourced from spain, fwiw...

blackbear-h
I shoot a Ruger Red Label 20g O/U and it is a nice handling gun.
The Red Label has a very low action frame profile and the feel and ballance is very good.
They have a couple of other good things including hammer interrupters, rebounding hammers, mechanical single selective trigger, and ejectors.
They also have a system to help prevent doubling from involuntary second pull.

Haven't handled either of the others so cannot compare them.

Weatherbt's Over/Under is made by SKB and is a fabulous gun.....but why not buy the SKB direct and save a couple bucks.....for O/U the SKB 505 is the best value in double (shot)GUNS imo.

If the discussion is to side/sides I'd take a good look at the new L C Smiths being introduced by Marlin.

For the $ they want for the Ruger I think I would hunt around and try and find a used L.C. Smith in good condition. Maybe even a Parker or higher grade Ithaca. There are some to be had it will just take some looking.

I will say up front I have no presonal experience with any of these guns, unless by Weatherby you are refering to their O/Us which I've handled a few times. That said I've heard a fair bit about some of the ones you mentioned, so what I say is second/third hand so take it with a grain of salt.

If we are talking SxS:

(1) The Ruger Gold Label is made in the USA and has gotten good reviews in particular for its relation of price to quality (arround $2,000). The difficulty with them is that their release was delayed for quite some time, and that ticked off some people. Also because of the degree of hand work involved in making them they are not hitting the market in large numbers so they are hard to find. They are 12 gauge and single trigger only and have either a straight or pistol grip stock. They do have that Red Label safety which some do not like. They are inspired by a Dickson round action so if you like those you'll probably like the Gold Label. Choke tubes, and 3" chambers too.

(2) As mentioned earlier the old SxS Weatherby imported and sold (Italian) were dropped (problems with quality control I've heard). But they've just lined up a new SxS thats supposed to be quite nice, Italian again (I think). Don't know too much about them though...

Dont' know too much about Kimber...

Hope this helps!

The Kimber are made in Turkey and are expensive for what you get, IMHO. The wood/metal fit is just OK and the metal/metal fit is just OK. So what that they are a sidelock for "only" $5,000.00...made in Turkey... I can't see that they will ever make it on the market.

I like the feel of the Ruger, but would buy a good used Sauer or Simson for the same price or less. I believe in supporting our American firearms industry, but the Ruger is too expensive for such an austere sxs.

I own a Weatherby Athena Grade III in 20 ga. and it handles and functions very well. I've also shouldered the new Weatherby S/S and it handles OK but the forearm is almost square shaped that I didn't care for. The Ruger I've handled and like it was said before it's too much money for his gun. I also owned Ruger O/U's but don't anymore. As far as Kimber is concerned I've never handled one but A LOT of nice shotguns out there for the same money or less!
