Never ever seen before !

IMO this one of the most peculiar double I have seen. Maker is Maurice Thonon, Belgium:

Bit like a bird that I know. Ugly, yet fascinating and something that I'd definitely like to have a play with.

Definitely not seen it before, thanks for posting. It is a fascinating design.

Interesting to see that it works without being fitted on the circle. In fact from what the photos show, the central flat bar between the barrels is the only thing that keep the barrels attached to the "action".

I would love to see its insides and the location of hammers/strikers and sears.

Are the triggers "upside down"?

Just finished some research on the Actionless. It definitely is not fitted on the circle, while it was made with interchangeable barrels in smooth and rifled calibers, changeable by the owner with no tools. Note that the barrels came apart via a snap near the loop and could be assembled again with no tools in any mix the owner wanted- smoothXsmooth, smoothXrifled, rifledXrifled. The ones the search uncovered were proofed in Paris and their proof pressures were higher than most.

The puzzling thing is how this gun survived in the absence of a solid action bar, reinforcements and circle fitting etc. Discoveries like this one show that double gun design is largely uncharted territory.

You certainly wouldn't want to forget that it's not a safety on the tang or you would have an open action when you needed to take your shot.

It looks like the triggers are mounted facing up???

Just guessing but given that the bar joining the action and barrels is double hinged and from the description the front of the bar comes off with just a push of a cross button, I would guess it will wear quicker than a traditional double and come off face. I would also guess that the top lever pushes a pin down into the joining bar to hold it closed. Even with a tapered pin the locking mechanism can only press down as far as the lever on top contacts the tang so eventually it will wear to a point that it won't close tight. That's all just a guess on my part but it seems logical that it works that way.

I wouldn't own it but it is an interesting piece.

Triggers in a one sided "thumbhole" in the stock, and upside down as well. Funny opening barrels, needing loading to the side. And even worse an UNDER AND OVER set of barrels . I'm sorry this rifle is completely retarded.

Looks like a lot of effort to wind up with a nasty looking contraption.

It certainly is an ugly looking rifle/shotgun, I suppose it's maker loves it, why would someone expend so much effort on a lost cause ? On an over & under as well! a complete non event.
Here is a link to a very similar concept, albeit a bit better thought out, but still a "loose" in my book,

See what you think, someone must like the idea they are being made to this day, and selling five per year ?

.......................................... Looks like the worse idea anyone has ever came up with, certainly not the best of all worlds IMO! The only thing positive that can be said about this contraption is it has TWO BARRELS!

Interesting from a mechanical design stand point, However, it looks like something someone thought up while on an LSD trip.
