question is what is was before
9,3x64 dont fit in the magazin when it was in the 8x57 class before.

CIP max cartridge oal is 85.6 mm for the 9.3x64. Jon Speed, Mauser OOSR, gives the factory magazine dimensions of commercial Oberndorf sporting rifles. 8x60, 9x57, 10.75x68 = 84mm oal. 9.3x62 = 85mm. .30-06, 7x64, 8x64 = 88mm (opened up to the front), .318, .333J, 9.3x64 = 92mm (opened up front and rear). IMHO a 9.3x64 with the bullet seated to 85.6mm CIP oal will quite well through an 88mm magazine. Even an 84mm box can be filed ot front and rear to take the 9.3x64. Of course, such a magzine will take only three of the fatter cartridges. Post WW2 many standard length ex-military 98 actions and magazines were opened up to take even the .375 H&H. Even the FN/Browning so-called "Magnum" action is merely an opened up standard length one. Mauser themselves used Magnum length actions with a 95mm mag for such numbers.
BTW that 9.4x64 rifle sold for EURO 514.99, about $ 670.-. Here are some auction photos:

IMHO the design is influenced by Art Alphin's A-Square "Hannibal" rifles of years gone by.

The above photos are the "BEFORE". These represent the "AFTER"

Master gunsmith Torsten Retz of Suhl worked his magic on the much neglected rifle and before too long I should have it in my hands.

I still have them. I may find a use for the bottom metal and triggers, but the stock is available.

All Mauser, Oberndorf, factory lever release floorplates have this "step". It limits lever travel.

First time I see scope mount being dove-tailed into the barrel rib!!

Nice rifle though. There is a re-newed interest in the 9x57 suddenly here in SA

I find this auction a little suspicious. The seller has a history of selling starter pistols and other similar merchandise all for under 50.00 Euros, then all of a sudden he has this rifle, and doesn't even know how to describe it.

Now there are only two parties bidding, and one of them has a history of only a total of two purchases on eGun. It reminds me of the shenanigans which went on with my 9.3X64 before I finally struck a deal with the seller outside the auction. He had run the price up with a stooge three times before he finally agreed to sell at a reasonable price.

Its certainly a beauty of a rifle, if it's for real.
