What goes into making a Muzzle Load?

Heya guys. I'm pretty sure someone heres (Daryl?) brother builds exceptional muzzle loading arms, and my question is this:

If one buys a pre existing lock, how does the trigger assembly all connect etc? Does anyone have any photos of a build from scratch? (with or without pre made lock)? How does the barrel attach to everything, whats the end of a muzzle loading barrel look like ("chamber" end?)? Whats hidden inside the wood behind the barrel and where the trigger goes?

You might wish to purchase a catalog from Track of The Wolf as they are about the best supplier of all things traditional muzzleloading.

Traditional muzzleloaders are quite simple. The guts and function are pretty much like the right side of a sidelock double barrel hammer shotgun.

Lots of involved questions - good suggestion to look at a book like Track's catolog and see for oneself the parts and much of it is common sense to see how they fit together - at least some of it.

Steve, great link! Haven't finished it but found pictures of the breach plug - I was always curious how these looked or were done.

I'll get the catalog and see how it all fits. There's something.. I don't know, but there's something about traditional muzzle loaders..

Ash if you need any coaching let me know. I'll help you out any way I can. E-mail me personally and I'll advise you as you go. I make muzzleloaders to earn my living so I have quite a lot of experience at this kind of thing.
