Hopefully picking my last three and half shiraz vineyards still left to pick tonight. Will just leave a Grenache vineyard in two or three weeks time.

The article is quite good. Most of it is true too.

My buyer is not in the Barossa but does make some Barossa wines ... and is of super premium standard.

Bit concerned about my Grenache. Not home at the moment but it must getting quite ripe. HEAVY rain forecast tomorrow, so hopefully no berry splitting or any mildew! Agriculture is a pain in the arse ...

That rainband from the top end west to here is immense and has brought rain over the last two days. Even the grapes here might be in strife John...as you know we are not commercial and its no big deal but for you I do hope all is well for your crop.

Shiraz here is cropping well whereas the shit pot Sangiovese wont be picked this year.

Do you ever have Euro Wasp problems at all?

All of my shiraz came off two weeks ago. I had reasonable crops- maybe 25% down, but many Barossa vineyards were well down - 25 to 75% down. My Cabernet Sauvignon did not exist. I did not pick any whites. They are due to be pushed out. Just shows when you have an average shit year, compared to an extraordinary shit year, you feel optimistic.

It´s hard to be a farmer, you are always depending on the weather for your income. It´s a bit easier if you grow forest like I do. But it´s not fun what happend in Canada and USA with the beetle that killed enormous of hektars of forest.

Nice article and I must say that's a valuable information. I would love to try that wine as I am visiting Australia very soon. Thanks for sharing.

FINISHED VINTAGE!

Finished picking a good Grenache crop on Monday with the last delivery on Tuesday morning ... Yay!

Several 12 to 15 hour days since Friday and a big sleep today.

Pulled a muscle in my back this morning, doing nothing. But good timing.

Now to other stuff on NE that has been waiting for some time.

***

BarryMarion,

I will see if I can write up a report for you on good places to visit.
