The Big One

The moose in the photo is an Alaska-Yukon moose taken by Eric Arnette on September 5th, 2004. It was taken in the Kilbuck Mountains which is 380 miles west of Anchorage , AK . The rack is approximately 75 inches wide, has about 36 countable points, and was unofficially scored by a person who is not an Official Measurer at around 264 points. In the near future it will be posted on the Boone and Crockett Club's web site on "Trophy Watch" where the official score will be announced once it is entered.

The final score on that big rascal came in around 236, I think, making it #118 in the book. Nonetheless, that is a huge moose.

UPDATE: Eric's great Alaska-Yukon moose has been officially scored at 236 B&C. Should the moose be accepted at that score upon review, it would stand at 118th on the all-time list. Greatest spread was 74 inches, with 12 points on each antler (not counting a total of four abnormal points.) Definitely a fantastic trophy!

If we could only import some of those genes to Norway, and artificially inseminate some of our moose cows with them...

WOW!
Awsome animal. I would think that a moose that size would qualify as dangerous game, anyone hear much about moose attacks?

There's an old saying in Northern Minnesota "never honk (your auto horn) at a moose.

Moose seem to enjoy attacking tourists automobiles and making rather bad cans of them. August seems like their favorite time of year to make car fenders look like swiss cheese and they seem to know no enemies. Docile in appearance they can surprise you with their aggressive nature.

That is an outstanding moose!! The trophy of a lifetime for sure. I hope he has a big trophy room LOL

A friend of mine killed a bull moose in Alaska that had a spread over 66". After he had it mounted he found out that he could not get it into his trophy room because it would not fit through the doors no matter how hard he tried

The mount ended up being placed in his garage on the wall........where it is to this day!
