Any Help with ID on this Mauser?
      #243713 - 13/03/14 07:13 AM

Working on purchasing this rifle, these are the only pictures I have at the moment, any
ideas or thoughts on origin or value?

Well here goes, except for the scratching on the metal it's a nice, restocked military Mauser
I would say around $400.00 +/- $50 Cdn. in this neck of the woods. John

Got the rifle home today, no stampings that I can discern origin, however in barrel channel written in pencil is Pal Kowetz 1945, and the number 5127 , the one and seven in distinct german script.
Begs the question, Jewish gunmaker in Germany making a sporting rifle in 1945?
Any help?

one of zillions made by good makers in Suhl, and other places. Ex ordinance action, value around $400-500 i would say. They generally represent very good value these rifles, no one generally goes out of their for them, pity because there are worth more.

Best

Pal Kowetz 1945 written in pencil sounds like the name of the american GI who send the rifle over the pond
