I love it just as it is!!

I wish it was easier to get things like this shipped across the ocean.

Interesting rifle -interesting comment from Tinker

What do people think is reasonable restoration?

Leave it as it is?

Complete strip of woodwork and refinish?/Re-caseharden locks/reblack barrels?

Or something in between ?

One reason I ask is I am looking at a couple of items in slightly worse condition which I have left alone for the moment

The gun is incredible. Bernard tubes too.
The stock is horrible.
There are so many different generations of repair and retrofit.
It's a storybook.

The metal might be too far gone - maybe not.
Perhaps a full restoration and re-stock wouldn't be against the universe on this particular gun. It would be expesive!
I'd love to own it.

Cheers

Needs a new stock - that part for me, is non-negotiable. I'd also polish the bores as best I could, check to ensure safe to shoot and that's it.

Agree on everything Daryl said.

What are "Bernard tubes"?
