Hunting territories for sale in B.C.

I've been watching territories come up for sale in the far North of B.C. in prime hunting areas and find it a bit odd. Does anyone know why? Maybe it is just coincidence.

what territory do you mean? Is this the sale of quarter sections?

Check out the prices. They ask an awful lot for those territories but rarely get it. It is a hard life and the only way for most to retire from it with anything is to sell out.

no, not quarter sections but areas that are under license to a guiding business. The boundaries usually follow rivers, mountain ranges, etc. A couple of examples for sale are Coal River Outfitters ($750,000 CAN) and Stone Mountain Safari's ($4.5 CAN) and there are a few more from $1.5 -$2.5 CAN.

I've been told that the price is based on sheep permits with a going rate of $100,000 CAN per permit and the avg sheep hunt costing $25,000 US. Of course past sales also set price. I do not know how quickly the business would be paid off based on asking or selling prices, but I'm sure it is more of a lifestyle. Maybe some people buy one just to trade hunts?
