I thought that would get your attention! Just a little culling with the Glock 21 I put together.

Wow! You shooting from a blind at close range? Nice shot placement. Reminds me of the Webley '02 rifle in 455 Webley which Ross Seyfried used on a cow Elk.

No sir. No blind. I was actually just sitting by an oak tree near some trees that were dropping acorns. It was about a 25 yd shot. Double tap 230 jhp ammo. She ran 30-40 yds and fell over. I've killed several deer with a handgun, but this was my first with a 45acp.

Here's the under side of the hide on the exit side. I never dreamed a 45acp would do this kind of damage.

That's a Storm Lake 6" drop in barrel. It is surprising how good this thing shoots. I have an Ed Brown 1911, and the Glock is almost as accurate.

That is some nasty tissue damage..guess the old 45 did its job..I have a model 20sf in 10mm I plan to try this next season and also carry from time to time when I am out hiking..within their effective range handguns certainly do the job--congrats on the kill..

Well done, Toby.
For a few years, I used a 1911 .45 - Wilson 5" ported barrel and slide for a modified IPSC course I used to put on for the local RCMP and my riot squad. I carried and used it on 2 black bears behind the jail when working night shift 'Prowl'. 1st was a 230gr. FMJ - 10 yard shot to side of the head. Second was a 260gr. Speer HP through the near side shoulder, ahead of 11.9gr. WW630 powder at 20 yards under the yard lights. Both bears dropped.
The big Speer chronographed 960fps in my barrel. Hell of a good ACP load for strong gun - shot into 2 1/2" off bags at 50 yards.

I think the 45 acp is underrated as a hunting gun. I know it's no long range caliber, but for iron sight ranges, it seems to be as effective as some of the medium revolver cartridges. The new ammo available has really evened out the playing field. And all this is done without the cylinder blast and noise that revolvers have. Of course I do have a Freedom Arms 454, so who am I to talk? lol!
