Fitting a "TV" to my krieghoff
      #241158 - 25/01/14 08:15 PM

Hi guys,

I am hoping that someone here has had a go at mounting a Trijicon RMR or similar to a Krieghoff.

I am looking for the easiest mounting option to put this on my double. I know it breaks the rules on pretty guns, but with my eyes as they are I have to be honest and admit (as much as I don't like to) that I am battling with the express sights.

Anyone with ideas of what mount to use, or even better with pictures would be much appreciated!

Either in the last Holt's sale or the one before there was a modern double fitted with some kind of optical sight. I'm sorry but I can't tell you any more but it might be worth a trawl back through their catalogues.

You're looking to do this I think. This is a Heym fitted with a Trijicon RMR sight.

What sort of mounting system does the Krieghof have on its barrels? Dovetail or screws?

Went on Google and google led me straight back to a NitroExpress.com forums thread.

Was looking for an image of the Krieghoff mounting system on the barrels. Would have a photo somewhere myself, but easier to find it on the net.

Trijicon Reflex Sight on a Double

http://forums.nitroexpress.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=240602&an=&page=0&vc=1

Another thread on NE forums found via Google images.

BTW One of our nice members has offered to help source some bases for my RMRs, which will be great. Have to tell him what I need.

I will have a look at the Trijicon website and maybe answer both questions.

Any reason why they have used the front mount and not the rear mount for the "TV?"

Ok, just clipped straight onto the rail, except it's quite far back and close to the end of the barrels.

Thoughts!?

How do you post pictures?

Why not a buckhorn sight or a peep? Smaller less disgusting and old guys with bad eyes have been able to shoot them quite well?

Dumprat.........no peep on a double....but ideally must agree it's prettier without, but not nearly as bad as I expected!

Why no peep sight on a double? A good ghost ring makes nothing but sense.

Had a long talk on the phone with a USA member last week, and he informed me some gunsmithing might be required to fit the RMR onto ribs, especially to keep it stable under recoil.

So something to consider.

Myself, I am giving it a try as is, well getting a base and then seeing it it fits and/or works OK. Otherwise will need to ensure some fitting is done.

It seems the Trijicon RMR has a specific footprint and that a Docter sight is more versatile. Something to keep in mind when buying one of them in the future.

Thanks to our USA member who is sourcing a base mount for my RMR for me to try out.

Gonna try the TV out tomorrow, so will let you know how it and the mount hold out under recoil Nitrox.

Can't wait to hit the range! Have a great Easter chaps

Hi Jumbo,

Please let us know how you got on. I have a Krieghoff 500NE double and found that the express sights are accurate, but a bit off! They don't seem to be adjustable either.

They have very kindly offered to take the rifle back and adjust them, but I'm considering alternatives, and an RMR is one of them.

I'd like to know your recommendations after a bit of trial and error!

Regards

John

Ivan Carter has a Heym fitted with either a Trijicon or a Docter.

Heard quite a story of that Heym when I was there last--apparently somehow if got bumped out of a boat..Ivan allegedly spent a day or two diving in the Zambezi but eventually found it again...impressive thing to do considering all the crocs in that thing..
