I doubt that many of those Garands made by Breda and Beretta saw service with the US military. I question (or perhaps better said wonder) if they are even military surplus. I remember Breda was making BM59's for the civilian market in the 1970/1980 era.

the reason Garands are so high on the list is Century International Firearms stripped thousands for part kits that were shipped to the U.S.. The Receivers were not legal to ship to the U.S. so they stayed in Canada. $50.00 per receiver is the going rate here, and there are lots available.

I am wondering how this guy got this data, as the long gun registry was scrapped and all data destroyed. If Quebec wants a long gun registry they should SEPARATE!!! (hopefully) and start their Own. Sorry for the rant. Al

I have been to Canada many many times. Grew up only an hour from the border. Used to teach skiing 10 minutes from the border. Found it very handy when drinking age there was 19 and 21 in the US. Think it is an incredible nation with the morals of what the US was when I was a kid. Very friendly people as a rule and incredible landscape.

It seems the overwhelming sentiment is as described above..appears Quebec has a very large disconnect with most of the rest of Canada..

Didn't they attempt to succeed a long time ago or am I hallucinating.???

As far as the Registry is concerned - it no longer exists as a National Entity. It was ordered DESTROYED. HOWEVER - it does appear as if some - perhaps all, Provincial Chief Firearms Officers or perhaps Provincial Police Division Headquarters copied the data or simply did not destroy it as ordered by the Commissioner of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police - and actually kept what was left of this 'data'.

Unfortunately for them, the data was VERY corrupt - or corrupted- According tot he National Firearms Association, the "Registry" had been hacked 480 separate times, with data destroyed and stolen.

We were informed at one time, that you could actually purchases lists of firearms owners, their addresses and what they had in their collections, in local bars in Edmonton.

the "Registry" was far from secure and much of the data was lost or re-arranged.

In the High River gun grab last year, long after the 'records' were supposed to have been destroyed, the Mounties in High river used registry data to target homes where firearms had been registered prior. They smashed in doors and stole firearms form those homes where the people had been evacuated due to flooding.

When people went to the Detachment to pick up their guns, some were asked about 'extra' firearms they appeared to now have that 'weren't registered'. Of course the answers given was since there was no longer a registry I buy and sell as I want.

Do THEY, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police "Maintain the Right" - not any more - at least not in Alberta.
