takedown repeaters - why did you choose this concept
      #239814 - 28/12/13 09:45 AM

How important for you is the takedown concept?
How many of you - travelling hunters have gone this route and why?
How seductive for you is the eventuality to have a switch-barrel?

My personal experience is that traveling with firearms can be difficult, rifle cases are striking and usually labeled as oversize baggage. And oversized cases will not fit in small bush planes...

When I did travel with firearms I used a take down a lot, but different from what you are thinking, I believe.

I took the metal out of the stock. I had a small case made with foam cut outs in it to fit the 2 rifles I most traveled with. They where a .30-06 and a .375, both on Mark X and both with the safe 4x scopes in the same weaver mounts. The scope off of the rifle staying home went along as a spare.
Small cut out for a screw driver, little fold up wire target holder, folded up paper target, electrical tape, bore pull and a 4pc bore rod with a few cleaning goodies.

Not a great photo, only 1 I could find.
