MY New Krieghoff 500NE with EJECTOR
      #238491 - 01/12/13 05:31 PM

Finally Home, sorry for the Iphone pictures, but they work.
i will get some moore detailed pictures later.

The krieghoff is uppgraded to my specs:

* Express sights
* RED english old style recoil pad
* uppgraded wood
* Nitrided Finish
* BIG game ingraving, my choosing on animals. Rhino og left side and a elephant on right side.
* monograme plate under the pistol grip, ingraved with a lion head.
* it is ready to use for scoop
* it is regulated with Norma PH 570grain, my choosing.
* and offcourse its the new model with EJECTOR!!! and i can choose from extractor to ejector

And its the first Ejector model in Norway only one dealer with krieghoff in Norway, thats how i know, they buy directly from the factory in germany.

Nice rifle! Please give a range report once you have had it out for a shooting session. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice!

Do you have a hunt planned for your new rifle as yet?

Well i can not shoot it at the range beefore april 2014. because shooting range`s are closed during the hunting season in Norway.
so they are only open beetween april-August. and every year before a season start you will have to shoot 30 registered training shots, and then do a shooting test at 100meter with a certain group.
with every rifle you are gone hunt with hehehehe.

so if i am to use this rifle in Norway legaly. i will have to stand and shooting at 100meter and have all 5 shots placed in heart/lung region hehe. bench rest is not allowed hehe

When it comes to matter of scratches in it... HELL NO!! there will be no scrathes or handling marks in this baby.

And no i have not planned any hunts with it yet. i am just 25 year old. so i have good time to plane a safri hunt with it.

my goal is to have combined hunt with buffalo and hippo on land for 10 days. and some plainsgame at the side.

but i think my first trip to africa will be with my 9.3x62 just to a test travel with weapon to africa, before i bring my Krieghoff with me.

Andreas,

Your range situation sure makes life tough!

If hunting game suitable for a .500 (ie not just plains game) I would take both! I always insure my rifles as well as possible. If you have the legal paperwork in hand, the main risk is the rifle being "misplaced", and nothing any of us can do about that. As your rifle is a new one, it can be replaced, unlike some vintage rifles. But I don't think anyone here on NE has lost a rifle when travelling, at least not permanently.

yeah that would be my biggest fear... misplaced rifle.
bringing guns on planes is allways shit. i dont know how it works in the diffrent countrys but we have to seperate ammo from the rifle. and seperate a vital part from the gun, on a bolt rifle, that would be the bolt.

on my Ruger No 1 in 458lott. i would have to lie and say i removed a firing pine or something.
with the double i would just say the same, or remove the forend arm and putt in my hand bag.

Never heard of that one before.

Is that something Norwegian airlines want ?

Anyway, great gun.

Yes. but i think thats the rule for whole europe

because we fly from Norway then to Germany then to Africa. if you choose to change fly in say
Britan in heathtrow... you gun is gone or misplaced,
and if you land in Holland, that could also cause problems.

so best thing is to middle land in germany, they dont stop function as soon as they see a gun breifcase, then the best thing you can hope for is that the africans that handle your bag is honest.

Wish i was Rich.. could just fly my personal jet down to africa, and hold my rifle the whole trip hehe.

how is it for your guys that live in australia or USA? just one flight? or do you also have to middle land?

Don't know from Oz, haven't been to Africa.

Interesting you say that as I thought carriage of Firearms and Dangerous good was covered by IATA which is world wide.

Bloody EU.

Surprised that your gun goes missing in the UK ?

I know there are some countries you just do not fly to with guns if at all possible. Singapore is one.

Flying to Africa from Australia is usually direct. One could fly via SE Asia but it is out of the way.

One of our Scandinavian NE members mentioned the differing rules in Europe. How they were required to remove their bolts and carry them separately on one flight, but after being delayed at the next, were told they couldn't bring the bolts ie firearm parts as hand luggage either (or vice versa) ... real stupidity ...

Andreas,

Most countries and airlines follow the IATA guidelines which require ammo and firearms to be carried separately. Ammo to be packaged in original boxes or similar. It is commonsense that a scope or bolt is not dangerous and should be no problem to carry in hand luggage. Commonsense is in short supply.

If I was carrying a double rifle, I would break it apart in its case, and claim it is dismantled to airline officials.

Perhaps our Scandinavian members could comment on what they do.

I have never traveld with my guns before.

they tend to stop you gun briefcase, have a look at it, and suddenly your gun missed its flights and you are in africa and the gun in the UK.

So thats what i have been told, never land in britan.

The best thing would to brake the gun down in the briefcase. to bad i didnt just order the
the Hard case from krieghoff with my rifle, but i wanted to order a oak/leather briefcase for my krieghoff.
but i dont think that could survive a trip.

Flying with SAS, bolt and well packed ammo in luggage, rifle in case and checked in as special luggage. Scope but not bolt in handluggage. Lufthansa didnīt like the Scope in handbaggage, but after very Close inspection it was ok. Donīt know with DR, probably ok to take the forend in luggage but not in handbaggage. I have only had problems in UK . /Staffan

Don't show fear. Scratches tell stories!

It is certainly a beautiful rifle - too nice to just be a ship in the harbor.

Here's a few shots of my well-used non-ejector Krieghoff. It's not that I'm particularly happy about any of the marks or wear and tear, but I do cherish the memories of the days in the field.

...sorry friends, but the engraving...

It looks like the engraver did see the animals in real life, even not in the zoo.

The lion looks like a muntant, combinated with an wulf...

Re the engraving, he must have been following the great traditions of British Double rifles and "Birmingham pussycats" (the cats engraved on DR's always seemed to have that square nose, hence the nick name they were given !).

I quite like the other animals, except the Buffalo.
He seems a bit out of sorts.
