My 10.75x68 finally arrives. Mauser of course !!
      #238402 - 29/11/13 07:05 PM

It's taken a while, but my Mauser '98 in 10.75x68 has finally landed.
This has been ongoing for at least 8 months.

Bit of a bugger that my permits to acquire are still a week or two away as my Firearms lic renewal was being processed.

The stock has unfortunately been refinished. It's also done a bit of work, but has plenty of life left. Should shoot well. A set of borrowed dies arrived today, so I've loaded some up and see if the dealer will head to the range for a test fire.

It's an Oberndorf action. All the numbers match.

Nuggety little bugger. Comes to the point perfectly.

Sorry for the shitty pics, it's all I could do with my point and shoot as the SLR has died.

Nice rifle, do it have repairings in the stock near the upper tail end ? The "black spot" in the middle of pistol grip checkering would indicate so...

Good pick up.

You will have a lot of fun with it.

Was only talking about this calibre with someone today,
although in Man-Schn rifles.

Very nice Mauser that I'm sure you will enjoy using. The rearward stock pin does seem quite far back as mentioned by Igorrock. My Mauser 404 which started life as a 10.75x68 also has the stock pinned in three places, the first two identical to yours but the rear pin just in front of the rear action screw. My stock is original Mauser factory with no sign of splitting anywhere. I've attached a photo just for comparison.

Now if you lived here I would give you the last of my stock of early RWS 347gr steel jacketed flat nose bullets, just made for the 10.75. They are very accurate in my rifle and would be good medicine for pig and buffalo.

A good usefull Type B, these Mausers and getting hard to knock back now, even with the heavily repaired stock.

let us know how it shoots.

PS

The stock appears to be Type A , does its number match the action and barrel numbers??

I haven't had the chance to check that yet. As my PTA's are still a couple of weeks away the rifle is still at the dealers. When I was in there on Thursday, I spent the time cleaning the bore to get an idea of what it was like.
I think I may be the first to have done so in a loooong time.
