I can answer that one. Probably nothing more than the re-barrel.
I have heard of more than one .270 rifle converted in Australian without problems.

Exactly new barrel only - the action rails will probably feed the 9.3x62 perfectly. Excellent choice of calibre for conversion, as would .338, .35 or .375 on the improved '06 case. Of course, although of slightly less power, the standard '06 case would also work very well.

Rebore?
-------------------- 450-400, 9.3x74r and 7x65r.

Reboring of a Mauser barrel is more costly than rebarreling. Rebarreling a Mauser is not a very expensive job.

Buying a new gun is almost as cheap as rebarreling, espcially if you sell the original gun.

I had good luck in reboring my Mannlicher-Schoenauer in .270 Winchester to 9.3X62. Now my only concern is whether the stock is strong enough to accommodate the additional recoil energy.
