Can anyone please assist with the current requirements/protocols for obtaining copies of original records from the Rigby archives??.
Not including Paul Roberts, thank you.

Best
Eric

Rigby now has a Facebook page, you might want to contact them that way and see what they can do for you.

Cheers,

What is the status of the Rigby trademark and brand, who owns it now, and are there plans to build rifles again? I've read various pieces about Paso Rables, Paul Roberts, etc. over the years but haven't paid much attention. To me the London guns, especially prewar, are the only true Rigbys.

Thank you Mckinney

We understand Mauser/Blaser now own the Rigby name, and that rifles are to be once again made in London. If so it would be kind of nice for the Mauser/Rigby relationship to be reborn.

They certainly cannot do any worse the the Calfornian Mob. The sooner we put that behind us the better!!!!

It will be interesting to see what sort of bolt rifles the "Mauser" Rigby comes out with. Traditional M98 rifles or some sort of crappy modern Blaser/Mauser straight pull over complicated contraption???

If they are being "made" in London, I wonder if the actions are going to be made there, or "assembled" in London? Is Paul Roberts making them still or someone else?

John I have asked Mauser some of these questions, specifically the protocol for access to the records which will be important of existing Rigby collectors and shooters.

Will post it here when and if I get a response.

Don't Mauser get their 'traditional' CRF Mauser '98 and square bridge actions from Prechtl. I'd assume Rigby will get them from the same source and then stock them.

Earlier this year most of the sidelock actions were being CNC'd in Birmingham and distributed to 'the trade'. No doubt another good source.

Will just be like the old days, putting a name on another gun,
be it a Mauser 98, Certus, Ross straight pull or whatever.

The truth is Rigby is today a tradename. Too many have been around that name to actually have done more bad thing to the name than anything else.
I would even dare to say all this turmoil that has been around the name"Rigby", have had a negative influence on even the older guns too. H&H, Purdey, Boss and a few others has remained the same and with same ownership without abrupted lines. The remained on the same addresses also.

IMHO and the opinion of most Aussies, the Cal-Rigbys were such a departure in style and quality that they will never be mistaken for true Brit-built Rigbys and therefore had nothing but a positive influence on Brit Rigby desirability: ie the fear that no more British Rigbys would ever be built again, simply pushed up the value of existing original guns here in Oz. The fact that they are once again "available" may be the reason for any slightly negative influence on the selling price of vintage Rigbys, especially the higher-grade examples.

I agree, I think the value and desirability of the " original " Rigbys will only be enhanced. Nonetheless we could have done without the recent desecration of this famous Marque in more recent times.

Expensive but at least they give access.

I hope the "new" Rigby makes a good show of producing, contracting to have made etc, a good traditional Rigby bolt action rifle, perferably the good old modern versions of the Mauser 98. Some innovated rifles designs also don't hurt in the mix.
