the fate of a Kurz Mauser

had it in my hands today, this is the bolt for Tentman hope he will be happy with it

the emotions about the rifle were mixed, inside very good but outside...
the barrel looks inside like new and the former owner told me it was shooting great. do you think someone will have it for a project? making a bolt by cut and welding seems not realy a problem with modern welding technology. the rifle have to be heavy grind maybe in the way the Kesslerin http://www.waffen-kessler.de/sites/kesslerin_original.html ist trimmed to be extra slim. the Mauser Oberndorf logo is still good visible on the receiver.

Nice rifle. Maybe you could fix those action pittings with same way as car customizers do i.e. using pure tin as a filler. Then just filing extras away and cold bluing. Stock, barrel and scope mounts is easy to change.

I dont have the time and space to do it for myself. there is the Vergueiro and a Mannlicher in 6,5 so I dont need a rifle in this caliber anymore, not enough room in the gunsafe also.

I have same situation; Mannlicher Schönauer in 6,5x57 and Mauser in 6,5x55, both in my cabinet...

I compare the kurz bolt with a standard bolt. take measurments on the parts of the kurz bolt where you find a difference. thinking its possible to cut and weld a common M 98 bolt

Lancaster - a great idea to post such information.

I would be happy to contribute the shortened bolt I already have to the restoration project. The bolt is functional but it has issues that will take patience to resolve. I also have a pattern stock.

Regards all
