My little Gibbs .256 takedown
      #236665 - 14/10/13 04:49 PM

After seeing the posts about the 6.5x53R and the talk of the Gibbs, I thought it was about time that I showed my little Gibbs takedown.

This old girl came from a deceased estate. Unfortunately the deceased had "personalised" all of the guns in his collection. This one has "Mannlicher" stamped into the wood on the right hand side.

The old girl shoots well. Has been to Africa and accounted for a couple of beasties. Unfortunately, around here, she's shot more rabbits than anything else.

Now that's just a little sweetheart! Too bad the previous owner felt the need to tattoo her so garishly. Maybe a bit of heat and steam can bring it out??
Guess he was forgetful of what rifle he was shooting at the moment. Kinda reminds me of the guys who pay extra money for a custom car license plate that has the model of car on the plate- like you don't know what model of car you have, Sport?
Nice piece and thanks for the pics. Don't see a Gibbs Manny too often.

What a lovey little piece of history to say the least!
Lets hope HuntingSchneider you can get brass & dies for the old girl, would be a great (stalking) deer cartridge.
Bloody envious!!!

Thanks for the kind words Gents.

I've been using her for a few years.
This is the only photo I have of it with a dead beastie. This blesbok was taken in the Eastern Cape in 2008.
