I just got back from a 10 day float trip in Alaska for moose. A friend and I were both lucky, (I think), enough to get one each. My buddies went about 50" outside spread and mine is about 65". I'm the only one home and can't hold both ends of the tape. Moose was about 75 yds and trotting when I shot. Went straight down in a heap.

Stunning!
I've never had th courage to bring a traditional blue and walnut rifle to the far north. It's always tempting but it has ended up as stainless and Tupperware.
You may have inspired me or at least shown I'm a whimp.
Well done.

Rell it rained 6 of the 9 days and we were also on a raft going through white water often. I took plenty of Remington wipes with me and paid very close attention to it. I also removed the metal from the wood on sunny days to dry it out. It got soaked almost everyday.
93x64mm the load was 70 grains of Varget and a .422 400 grain TSX flat base Barnes X bullet.

Casper, That would certainly be a "mild" load for a .404, but if it shoots just fine in the old girl to where it's sights line up (pretty obvious they do) then that's all that matters & what a trophy you scored mate! Bloody envious we are! Hope the moose steaks go down well with a few coldies - have a few for me! Cheers 93x94mm
