I thought some of you blokes might be interested in this design - I had it made by a local custom leathermaker, Josh at Joshua Leather. Holds 12 rounds of 470 NE, has the cases encased in leather but held by canvas to prevent verdigris. Flaps over the pouches that can be opened one handed and a very sturdy brass buckle. I am very happy with the design and build quality and will take it for a run in the Northern Territory in two weeks time.

That is a very attractive design and with a flair of functionality to boot. Some sound thinking here. Please let us know how it sits on the hip and how easy it is to access the cartridges? Your leather master might have an order from this side of the Indian Ocean. Thanks for sharing your ingenious design. Masasa.

That belt looks great. I've saved the photo - might try to duplicate it here for the big 500/450 3-1/2" magnum.

G'day Adam,
That looks like a bloke I hunted with in Namibia in 2005. His name wouldn't be Danie Van Ellewee, by any chance? According to his bombastic and belligerent boasting, he also did DG hunts in Zimbabwe.

Thanks, I got the rough idea off AHs design from a couple of other photos he had posted, it is a sound design.
I had been looking at a number of the different culling belt style options but couldn't find exactly what I was after. I wanted the leather outer and protection over the cases whilst not having any of the brass touching leather. Josh was very accomodating and achieved excellent build quality based on my very specific specs.
It holds twelve rounds, has the capacity for the flaps to be lifted quickly by one hand and it is easy to draw two rounds with the same hand that lifted the flap and place them in the chambers. Took Josh a fair bit of work to get the canvas seated and sewn in nicely within the leather pouches but the finish is great.
Josh's website: http://www.joshualeather.com/
As a rough guide, looking at $300 Aust dollars for this belt, he is happy to build to specs for any other extras and builds the loops to the specific cartridge case. I was very happy with this price given the build quality.
In terms of where it sits, I have it much like in AHs photos, first pouch round the front and second pouch on the side. I have been wearing it around the house to break it in a little and have found it very comfortable so far. I'll report back on it after I finished wearing it in the Northern Territory bush for a week and a bit - off that way in less than 2 weeks now to chase some water Buff.

Adam and HS,
You couldn't post some close ups of your belts when convenient, could you? If so thanks. I had a look at the linked website and nothing of the sort is displayed there in his photos.

Will post some up tonight, closeup of pouch interior.
This belt isn't on Josh's site as it is the first one he has built, designed for specs I had asked for. He is keen to do more of this style of product I and I anticipate it will be popular given the build quality and practicality.
Best regards
Nathan

Yep, 'the bovine hunter' thought the name was appropriate for a belt built for Australian DG hunting when the DG we have are all bovines.

G'day guys!
I am Josh, the maker and co-creator of this belt. I have only recently become a member and just today had the opportunity to get on here and say g'day.
416rigby Yes I read NitroX's post and thought I best add it to the site and start some renovations, I am always open to feedback and suggestions
I look forward to getting to know you all, looks like a good spot
P.S. If I am required to discuss my membership with someone regarding representing my own business, can someone please point me in the right direction as to who I should talk to..? I sent an email some weeks ago with no response.
Cheers Josh

J Leather great to see you here.
Let's move forward with that belt for a 450-400 3". I'll send you measurements.
Do you have any cartridges in that caliber to use in your pattern making?

G'day Rell
Sounds good mate!
I don't have that cartridge no, I was thinking I might introduce myself to everyone in another section of the forum and put the feelers out for building a collection of these large cartridges for fitting in these belts and other hunting gear.
In return I could offer a discount or something in return... I'll think on it over the weekend Either way I'll get your belt made no worries at all!
Cheers Josh

Josh, just back in from my NT trip, as expected, the belt performed really well and held up to the rigours of the heat, bush and some solid km travelled on foot. No verdigris on my rounds and it enabled a couple of quick reloads which were very handy. I'll send you some photos when I get back to brissie. Cheers Nathan

I also had a try to come up with a pratical belt, but your idea is better. Mine is hand stitched and was hard work.
