Only the Traveler interest me. Well who wouldn't want a Holland, just a 577 is way more than I can handle.

Whats your rifle wish list ???

I can honestly say there isn't a single rifle there that interests me, besides the monetary value to sell and get something I wanted.

You know what they say, can always find room for one more..

I think it would be incredible to have that H&H in 577..at least just once --
How awesome that would be to use to track down a nice big tusker with that in hand???

Would also like to have a Rigby double in 500 Nitro..think that is the ultimate...have a .470, but feel the 500 is a touch better ..just my opinion...

Actually have a Webernick ultra light..use it all the hunting deer and bear in the mountains...great carry gun and accurate..its in a 280 Ackley...used it on my Big Horn sheep hunt as well..

Also like you, think the Dakota in a nice rifle..don't currenlty own one but have been eyeing one in a local gun shop for a while...one in a 416 would do just right...

That is just off the top of my head...I am sure I can come up with more as i sit and think about this..

"Would also like to have a Rigby double in 500 Nitro.."

They only made one RBRTB !!!

so your chances are not high !

I think it is with a PH Family in Africa.

G'Day Fella's,

Thanks for that Ripp!

I would love a Dakota Arms Model 10 in .... maybe .257 Weatherby or something else like a 7x57?
That is, only if they have addressed the issue of NOT being able to Dry Fire the rifle, with out breaking the firing pin!

Rifle wise, that's about it for me!

Doh!

Nothing in the line-up that ring my bells....No mausers and 577 isn't to my taste, 450NE, 500NE or 500/416 would be far more appealing.
Old Dakota rifle during Don Allen reign were great. Soroka or Hagn instead of the Dakota model 10. SIG 552/551 over AR-clones

The two Dakotas interest me and a H&H double if it was in 450/400. The Les Baer if it was in a 6.5 or 6.8SPC. Cant remeber who it was doing the Titanium job but one of those in 260 would be a great mountain rifle or in 350Rem mag for chasing Bears.

Yes exactly...change the H&H double to a 450/400 and that changes things a LOT.

Back in the Day Remington was making a titanium --I know you could get it in 7-08, 308, 270. 30-06...I picked one up and swapped the barrels out and chambered it in .257 Weatherby...use it quite a bit...light and very accurate....

I sure could use the Turnbull/Winchester 1886, but that would be the only one. Rifles with plastic stocks and camo finishes just don't make my wish list.

Interesting that "custom" is used in defining these firearms. It seems to me that the word has lost its meaning. In my view a custom firearm begins with a concept by a client that is expressed to a maker and through a protracted process the maker and client arrive at the finished product. Simply adding features to an existing firearm or offering options in the same manner that many of the major manufacturers did before the Second World War does not constitute custom in my view. I recall many articles over the years that detail a custom firearm build process and these reflect infinitely deeper technical parameters that achieves client perfection (at least in their eyes). The Holland and Holland is, again in my view, a best gun and that is in a separate category altogether.

I agree with most of the posts.

No buttons pressed here I am afraid

Yes a H & H .577 would be wonderful to have, but I would never have use for it (OK, wild boar - you can never have too much gun apparently!) But at that price and then scratch/damage/ break it? But then if you can afford one, why worry?

I knew you had a .257 Roy and that you enjoyed it Ripp. Now that I know how it came about, I now know why it shot. It wasn't made in Kalifornia.

The one that got away.

A Sako Safari in 338 Win Mag, 375h&h would be fine as well. No idea why but I was always crazy about that rifle.

Yes, a round action big bore double rifle would fit the bill nicely
The round action is devoid of any clunkiness even as a 600. Just beautiful in every respect IMO.

I think a pair of Hartmann & Weiss double rifles would top my list, in .600/.577 Rewa NE, deep chisel engraved with the BIG 5

And I might even go for one of these in cal .375..buy it in the white, and have it engraved, stocked and finished in London.

A 6 1/4 lb Scottish Round Action in .256 Dutch would suit me just fine. Alas, they don't make them anymore.

I think I'll just have to do it myself.......

That list was most certainly lacking! I guess I've just always had a lot different taste in firearms than what the run of the mill shooting magazine says is a fine rifle. Getting to shoot vintage English and European guns and rifles from an early age will certainly have that effect on a person.

That round action shall be a skeletal action (bar-in-wood) of course, Mike!

Didn't go through the list ...

Currently

Ugly plastic stocked M03 take down in .222, 6.5x65, 8x68S, .404. I will ditch the .30-06 barrel and get a 9.3x62 oneday, because I want one.

I would prefer a real M98 takedown in 6.5x68, 8x68S, .404 with quality walnut, construction etc. Went for the M03, as I didn't want to wait another 10 years talking about it ...

Otherwise the classic .300 and .375 H&H Magnums are always attractive. Was ONLY JUST THINKING ABOUT IT YESTERDAY!

I have a number of DRs. The .450 NE, a .500 BP and a 10-bore, among others. The .500 and 10-bore are fun guns only.

I am in the process of acquiring a .375 Flanged Magnum, to be scoped and become a "one-gun" world hunting rifle. The .450 is a decent step up for a stopper, so if I went larger, it would need to be a .500, but preferably a .577 3".

A 8-bore DR would be nice, just for giggles too.

I have a gap in the safe for very nice S/S shotguns too.

It doesn't stop there. Its a sickness and a disease as most of us know.

However every expensive gun purchased is another one to gather dust and the money used for a good safari or hunt somewhere forgone instead.

Maybe one to four decent ones would do it all better, and mean lots of hunting instead.

***

BTW Just finished my birthday a minute ago, I think the .375 Flanged should be a birthday present. Even if it takes me several birthdays to actually pay for it.

G'Day Fella's,

What a DUMB statement to make, who is this above Dick Head I quoted anyway!

I require at least one copy of every firearm that John M Browning EVER designed, plus a Newly made Mauser 98 (when they become available)!

I'll get back to you when I think of some more.......
