Uberti Revolver Carbine

Anyone used one of the cartridge versions of this gun? Specifically .357.
Looks like they could be fun, and neat on rabbit etc. come in .357 Magnum or .45 colt as are a single action.

Not too keen on the Taurus revolving rifles.

Anyways, thanks.

About what would a .357 magnum with 18" barrel be capable of, also?

Cheers!

Can't help with the revolver, but the Pedersoli Colt Lightning is a terrific rifle - bit of difference in pricing though, I expect. The Colt Rep. is about $1,700.00 here.

Shooting the revolving carbine with your support hand near the cylinder can give you a very burning experience.

The hold should be the same as shooting a revolver 2 handed - or cylinder flash will be the least of the problem - spitting lead will make you bleed. Too, the harder, slow burning powder granuals can also imbed in the wrist and arm.

The cap and ball revolving carbines (18"?) didn't have a fore end regardless. Both hands of the grip, the left wrapped around the right for right handed, was the norm for shooting them. Always wanted one, they looked pretty cool! Never got around to shooting one myself.

Yes I had one in 44Mag, bad on all fronts, as the guys have said, powder, lead & flames will get you if you use the left hand to support the "Rifle", MUST wear hearing protection or like me you will be deaf for life ,,, Bugger !

Oh wear glasses to & in 44mag the little brass butt plate is not to much fun either !

If anyone's interested, assuming this is the same/near enough. Shows the hold. They look nifty still.
Sarge - Was thinking .357 because of recoil.
Daryl - I wish they'd make some large frame lightning replicas! A .50-95 would be sweet (don't see an original in my price range anytime soon).

The recoil was the least of it, but that pointy brass thing was crazy, too small for any ones shoulder !

The blasted of the 357Mag is not that much less noise wise, very intense on the ears & I think will still have plenty of debris out of the cylinder gap ?

Yes a Colt Lighting in the Big Bore would be way cool !!

I almost ordered a .50-95 or .45-75 Italian M76 (Cimmerian) - almost. I was deciding on which calibre to buy while reading some comments about it on various forums, dating back to 1996. The price was right at just under $900.00 - BUT the problems reported - too much!
One can always hope they've improved, but all the tribulations kept me from buying one.
Thanks for the experience with them, Sarg - I figured nasty didn't know they'd be that nasty. I can easily see the noise being a LARGE problem. Short lengths of pull and hooked butt plates bring the face quite close to the 'revolving' part & cylinder gap. I expect rebounding 'stuff' might dig into the face a bit - hence necessity of glasses.

The scummy spotlighters often did (still do) use for hog deer poaching but with a silencer on them. A lot of hog deer have been taken that way.

Silencer on a revolver? How does that work?

I'm sorry it would not !

The silencer would need to cover the whole cylinder as well as the barrel, only in the movies !!
