Scope mount for my Mannlicher 1952, .270 Winchester

I been looking for a proper scope mount for my 1952 Mannlicher ever since I bought a coupe of years ago. I'd like either a G&H or a Paul Jaeger mount. A couple months ago I picked up a new condition Paul Jaeger base. On the auction it appeared to have a flat backed base, but when it arrived the base actually is milled so that surface toward the receiver decreases in width from one end to the other. Odd(??). The base is marked on the bottom with an "O" and a "M53".

Any help in identifying what firearm this base would be used on?

As an aside, I just 'won' an auction for a Jaeger mount that should work for my 1952 rifle.

I'll have a go at posting some photos, if I can remember how.

Thanks for editing my post to show the photos, I tried adding the text for the images but it still would not show??????

I still haven't figured out what the base might be for. At one point I was looking for any rifle with a M53 designation. Only thing I saw was a Johnson Automatic. I have no idea if it has any bearing on this mount though.

The receiver of the rifle this was for would need to slope from proximal to distal end! Very strange.
