After market peep sight for ZKK600
      #229588 - 02/05/13 07:56 AM

My ZKK600 does not have the factory fitted peep sight, and I am looking for an after market sight I can fit to the dovetail. I am having a little bit of trouble finding one and would appreciate any thoughts you guys may have on who makes one.

Thanks in advance

Alex

New England Custom Guns manufactures after market peep sights. The CZ 500 series will fit the ZKK seies.

I bought my NECG ghost ring sights on-line from Brownells. The dollar is still fairly strong at the moment. One on my CZ550 458WM:

What kind of front sight do you use in combination with that peep sight?
Especially concerning the height .

It was okay to use the standard CZ sight (small bead) on the 458 - it shot spot on without any adjustment. The CZ rear sight base had to be removed of course.

The NECG ghost ring is adjustable for elevation and windage BTW (allen head lock screw that can be undone to allow the ring to be screwed up and down, and screws on both sides for windage - the big headed screw is the one that you use to loosen to remove the sight and the other is effectively a stop).

I also bought one for my CZ550 in 375. It shot way too high with the standard front sight and there was no adjustment left in the ghost ring to compensate for it, so I bought a bunch of Recknagel front sights from Graeme Spraggon in Tamworth. The CZ standard front sight is 6.3mm tall. The Recknagels come is several heights and I bought 7.5mm, 8.5mm and 9.5mm beads (larger than the standard CZ bead) and a 10mm high post. The 9.5mm is the tallest bead they make.

Google the Recknagel catalogue to view the options - I believe Graeme can order whatever you like.

They do require some fitting - basically careful filing of the base of the bead insert. It's a bit fiddly to do but not a big drama in the scheme of things

Rather than fiddle around with adjusting the ghost ring for height - I was going to use as follows (much easier and quicker to change out the front sight than to try and remember what the rear sight was screwed down to - there's no graduations on the NECG sight adjustments):

7.5mm bead on 458 for 350gn jacketed projectile loads
8.5mm bead on 458 for 325gn jacketed projectile and 500gn lead projectile loads
8.5mm bead on 375 for 350gn jacketed projectile loads
9.5mm bead on 375 for 270gn and 300gn jacketed projectile loads
9.5mm bead on 458 for 405gn lead projectile loads
10mm post on 375 for 220 and 235gn jacketed loads
standard CZ bead on 458 for 400 (spot on) and 500gn (a bit low) jacketed loads

I've adjusted the 10mm post and one of the beads (meaning I've filed down the base so it fits), can't remember which one, but I remember it was for the 375 - I'll research which one it was.

I've used many different loads for the 375 with a scope and have the setting adjustments written down. I did some trigonometric calcs based on this when I selected the front sight beads, and the post and bead that I used performed as expected.
