A Remington Rolling Block Model 4
      #229115 - 21/04/13 11:29 AM

Gentlemen,
I am awaiting delivery on a virtually new example of Remington's smallest Rolling Block- the Model 4 in .32 Rimfire (chambered for both short and long .32 RF) and would like to know your thoughts, experiences etc. on the rifle and the cartridge. My example is reported to be the last incarnation made in the early 1930s with a receiver mounted screw dismount in lieu of a lever. Of course the ammunition is difficult to locate, but I had acquired a good supply many years ago and the urge to find a rifle for the ammunition has been inescapable. I found no solace in explaining the situation to my wife (she cannot imagine why one would buy ammunition for a rifle I did not have and then out of curiosity buy a rifle for the ammunition!) I figured I might find all of you a bit more understanding.
Thanks in advance,
Kindest regards...

The .32 rimfire takes a heeled bullet.

dixie gun works have such brass too

KA1202 Brass Rimfire Case - .32RF (.310 Round Ball) $5.00

Machined from brass rod stock and designed to use a .22 rimfire short in a special chamber inside the cartridge. The firing pin hits the .22’s rimfire and ignites the black powder loaded in the main cartridge. Fill this case as full as possible with black powder leaving room for a round ball. Load these cases one at a time in repeating arms; the .22’s primer will not always be at the firing pin’s point of impact. All chambers can be loaded in the Richards and Richards Mason Colt conversions. The Spencer rimfire case work nicely in both rifle and carbine chambered for .56/50 and .56/52. The .22 rimfire blanks (our stock number XA2710 work well with this.) These cases cannot be used in the 1866 Winchester and the Henry because the guns have two firing pin lugs. Sold $5.00 each or 6/$25.50. Please specify quantity in comment section when ordering.

also as extra long rimfire

years ago I have got some DGW cases and load dummy's for the collector box with a 32 short Colt CF die set thats laying around here unemployed. this is the right die set if you wish to work with your reloading press.

simply load a 8mm roundball

32 short RF, 32 extra long RF( in fact with the roundball the right cartridge for a 32 long chamber)
a 320 short CF blank case( euro version of the 32 short CF) and a 320 long CF caSE

Lancaster,
Your excellent article on reloading the DGW rimfire cartridges could be a confusing to the newcomer to our group,I refer to the part where you state "use a .22 rimfire short in a special chamber" I know, and experienced people will know, you mean ".22 rimfire blank",just a note to point this out.
Chris,
France.

CWJ and all on this thread. I know it's an old thread , but it's one seldom seen. I also have a Rem#4 in .32 rimfire which I have yet to fire.
The inserts using the .22blank from Dixie looks like a good answer.
A few years back, Southern Ohio Gun offered the .32 rimfire briefly. I believe it was a limited run done in SA. CWJ is your pre-rifle stock up possibly from those?
OK, so now I'm wanting to try the little rifle. Think I'll contact SOG and see if they anticipate future import. Thanks, Pat

the last 32 rimfire was made in the early 1990s for Navy Arms by CBC, now Magtech

I use the .22 blank in both .32 and .44 rimfires. Work well. For plinking in the .32 I just use the blanks for concrete setting. 4 different power levels. I've only used up to the 2nd highest and it's plenty.
